This photograph, taken in August 2001, shows President George W. Bush and First Lady Laura Bush with chef Matthew Wendel (center), his father Milton Wendel, and his brother, Clifton Wendel. Matthew Wendel had previously cooked for the Bush family while serving as a waiter-caterer at the Texas Governor's Mansion. After Bush was elected president in 2000, Wendel continued to prepare meals for the first family during their trips to Camp David and the Prairie Chapel Ranch, their residence near Crawford, Texas. Here, the president and first lady pose with members of the Wendel family during a private tour of the Prairie Chapel Ranch.
